wisdom teeth recovery.

What my diet consists of as of yesterday...yum.

No, this is not the first post I want to have welcome the month of June, but unfortunately I have to face the truth. I got my wisdom teeth out yesterday and I am in recovery mode. While I am still on the mend, I thought I would share with you a few details of my experience (not the gross-out stuff, though):

01. People will share gross stories with you before you have your surgery. I think this is kind of like being pregnant in a way -- people have stories/tips and they want to share with you. For the last two weeks, every time I have told people that I am getting my wisdom teeth out, I hear experiences about dry sockets (cringe) or how to ice your cheeks.
02. Vicodin makes you have trippy dreams. The first day, I had two dreams that I remember...one, I was in a cartoon (complete with speech bubbles) and the other, I was writing a blog with my mind with someone from high school (who I haven't seen in two years!).
03. You can't eat the food you want to. I thought it was going to be such a treat, getting to eat pudding and frozen yogurt for a couple days. But it's not such a treat when that is all you eat. I was shooting Chad dagger eyes watching him eat tacos last night.
04. General anesthesia leaves you saying and doing weird things. According to Chad, right after I woke up, I sang along with Prince's 'Kiss' and Backstreet Boys 'As Long as You Love Me'. Very loudly. I also proclaimed "I can't believe it's OVER!" about 50 times. Chad so wishes he had his phone out.
05. Having a surgery like this really shows how much Chad cares for me. He changed my gross, bloody gauze pads, he heated up spaghetti-o's for me, and he even woke up at 3:15 am to give me my medication. What a guy...

Hopefully I'll be back in full swing in about a week. For now, I'm brushing my teeth very carefully and staying away from straws. :)

People love sharing medical horror stories don't they? Weirdos. I remember, I had mine taken out very soon after I started dating John and he he drove 40 minutes away to get me the special milkshake I *had* to have. What a darlin. But if he had eaten tacos in front of me, we might not be here today. It's a good thing you're alrady married ;)

Ah I have yet to have my wisdom teeth removed and I'm afraid to. I always hear crazy stories. Glad you have someone so sweet by your side to help you, though. :)

In the spirit of #1, I'll share that I A) threw up when I came out of the anesthesia B) had dry sockets for 2 weeks and C)Went to work the next day at a restaurant, people staring horrified at the bruised chipmunk face. I broke a glass in my drugged up stupor.
Get well soon, and back to solids!

Oh my! I feel your pain. I still remember the awfulness of eating pudding for a week when I got my wisdom teeth out. I'd been looking forward to milkshakes, but the cold hurt too much!

Feel better soon.

Ouch! I have never had mine taken out, but I hear all sorts of horror stories - but strangely, the thing that scares me the most is not being able to eat whatever I want, hahaha. Yup, it all comes back to food.

I hope the recovery goes quickly - doesn't sound fun at all. Makes me kind of glad I hit the genetic jackpot and didn't have wisdom teeth at all.

having your wisdom teeth pulled suuuuuucks. I remember the dentist having me count back from 100-- I think I got to 98 and then the next thing I remember was him waking me up.

Try not to eat too much of the same thing-- I ate a lot of chicken broth, and I think that's why I hate chicken noodle soup so much. Vary it up as much as possible. Hope the recovery goes well!

I need to get my wisdom teeth removed and I'm dreading it. My fiance had his removed and had zero problems. I mean, eating regular food that evening. What a jerk.

I hope your recovery is as painless as possible and happens quickly! <3

I have 2 wisdom teeth and I have yet to get them out. I'm a little freaked out about it but my hubs and sister in law assure me that it'll be no problem. I'm still scared though!

i am new to your blog and this being the first post of yours i've read, i have to say i'll be back!

i am laughing through my nose!

i always get ridiculed for loving the stuff that people equate with babies or teethy painful procedures. i like jell-o (LOVE!), pudding (ADORE!) and zoodles or alphagetti (OBSESSED!)

prince is also one of my favourite artists of all time so picturing you doped up and singing kiss made me giggle!

hope your recovery is smooth and quick! i had my wisdom teeth out and it wasn't fun...except for the eating of course!
